  • Vastly underrated

I bought this as a CD 30 years ago. I always enjoyed this Yes album as it had influences of a the different iterations of Yes on one album. “Angkor Wat” is a beautiful piece of moody prog rock. “I Would Have Waited Forever” and “Shock To The System” are two of the best songs in their catalogue. I don’t think that “Union” gets the acclaim it actually deserves. I still love this album 30 years on.
  • Their best album to date(IMO)

Their 70s chronology Was OK by my standards. Then there was 90125 I really great 80s album (I own it on cassette tape) next came BIG Generator then AWBH and the 90s came and this happened. A marvelous Collection of 14 songs from 8 different Yes members. Lift Me Up and I Would’ve Waited Forever are my favorite songs off of this album. Despite critics giving it 2 1/2 stars, I give it twice that amount. I absolutely recommend this album. I can’t wait for Talk and Open Your Eyes to be on here. Bought if you’re more BIG into 70s Yes, you might like The Ladder.

This started playing randomly and I only recognized it as Yes...and YES IT IS GREAT MUSIC! Shock To The System is awesome powerful, as is Lift Me Up. They are building upon their 80s perfection here, not getting ruined by the 90s. They always have been great musicians, and this is very enjoyable.

A very underappreciated album! I wore this CD out when it came out in 1991! I would have waited forever, Lift Me Up, Saving my heart for you, Miracle of Life, The more we live-let go are amazing tracks. I don't understand why it's so hated because to me it's always a pleasure to listen to. Everyone has different taste and I Love all incarnations of Yes, but IMO this is far from their weakest.

Love the YES west songs and a few of the ABWH ones! Overall, not as bad as the press has said!

Other than Lift Me Up,in my opinion, this album is a disaster. Go with ABWH. Oh, and by the way, please add Talk and Open Your Eyes to the ITunes Yes catalog.
  • No matter what anyone says ...great album!

This album gets a lot of bad press...even from many of the band members of Yes themselves. But, mostly this is due to legal and logistical issues that really had little to do with the actual music. Some people (again, including the member of Yes) complain that there are too many session players on this album. But, don't let any of this sway you. First of all, the 8 members of Yes listed on the credits ARE indeed all on the album, some more than others, but they are there. Second, the vast majority of the writing was done by Yes themselves and they turned in some really great stuff on this album. I have been a Yes fan for decades, ever since I was 11 years old. I have seen them live many times and I have worked with a couple of their former members. Out of all of their albums (I have them all) this one is in my top 5. There are some truly great Yes songs on here and some amazing talent. There really is not a bad song on this album. If you like Yes at all, you really should have this album. It is truly great! The main thing I take exception to is the main pinned review of this…saying that Banks and Horn are missing. Ummmm….yeah….and so are Downes and Moraz. Why didn’t they just say that?? Oh well.

I was new to Yes, except what I heard on the radio, and this was one of my favorite albums during that time period. Very original and inspired! Love it! Still do. Great messages too...

Other than Keys To Ascension and 90125 (which are also 5 star), this is by far the BEST album i have ever heard. michael jackson was good, but these guys blow him out of the water. If you like progressive rock, these guys are where it's at. Dangerous is now my favorite song of all time.
  • Only one good song

All the other songs are junk. Lift me up is the only redeeming song on the album.
