Great remaster of a landmark album

I bought this record on vinyl in 1977; it was a double album and for a live recording of that day, it sounded pretty great on my Dual turntable, Pioneer receiver, and AR speakers. By the 80's I had pretty much put away the turntable and switched to CD's; sadly the CD version of "Seconds Out" was poorly done and it sounded dull and flat compared to the original. I'm happy to have available Apple's digital version, which has the best fidelity, lowest noise, and most dynamic range of any. Thanks guys!

At Their Best

One of the best live rock albums in my opinion. The band sounds awsome, this is their definitive live album. Hard to remember if this is how they sounded during these live shows but the only contention any fan of the band at this stage could have is the muted sound of Hacket's quitar. This is the definitive version of Cinema Show, even without a more ripping solo from Hacket. The low end is amazing with Rutherford's base and Phil and Bill B. on drums and the climatic keyboard solo. Never tire of it.
Best Live Album Ever Recorded

Unrestrained by producers and a record company Genesis gives a performance of a life time. Collins aided by Chester Thompson establishes himself as one of the greatest drummers on the planet. Steve Hackett's guitar work is nothing less than perfection especially on Firth of Fifth and his last performance with the band. Bank's keyboard solo on Cinema Show is a masterpiece. Side two, Cinema Show, Dance on a Volcano and los Endos is pure perfection. The album marks the end of Genesis as a prog rock bank and their slide into disgusting world of pop music
Great live Genesis, nicely wraps up the Hackett years

This is a great live album, and a great encapsulation of the prog-era Genesis. It covers almost all the key tracks (Afterglow, Supper's Ready, Squonk, Dance on a Volcano/Los Endos, The Lamb Lies Down, etc.), and if anything the live versions presented here are the equal if not better than some of the album tracks. Interesting side note: It was during this era of Genesis that one Eddie Van Halen picked up the tapping technique used by Steve Hackett!
This was actually my gateway into the older Genesis material, as I had only heard of the band through their 80s hits. In that role, this album is perfect.
Phenomenal album-a Classic!

I'm admittedly from the Phil Collins era of this band-however for anybody like me who's ever wanted to experience their origins-but you just wanted them sung by Phil-this is the best album! Love "Carpet Crawlers","Suppers Ready",Firth of Fifth,","Dance on a Volcano ", and-well-all of it! Phil's voice is wonderful-and love the guitars Mike Rutherford and Steve Hackett are two of the best guitarists that u never hear about! If there's any one album 2 answer why this band is in the R&R Hall of Fame-this is it.
Is this the 2009 Remix?

If you have ever enjoyed a Genesis song then buy this entire album. The quality of this recording sounds like it was made today. Cinema Show is magical. Listen to Eddie Van Halens inspiration on Firth of Fifth where Steve Hackett invents "Hammering" on guitar. Robbery Assault & Battery starts with a light hearted robbery and turns the corner to one of the most serious grooves of their recorded career. The post Gabriel era Squonk from the studio album Trick of the Tail, tells a story of a small mythical Pennsylvania forest creature and is considered the quintessential progressive rock song of its time. This is one incredible piece of art.

Most reviews are comparing the gabriel to collins transistion, but this is Steve Hacketts' final album with the band. Gabriel has been long gone and already started his solo career at this point. I saw this tour live in Phila and this album captures that concert very well and brings back some great memories. The loss of Hackett however changed the musical direction of the group forever. After this album the fan base split more than the individual artist did. It is amazing they stayed together as long as they did considering the talent level.
