KRISTINE W...STRAIGHT UP!

By JC Alvarez
The original Diva of Dance pours her heart into a project that is "straight up" Kristine W at her best! Without the gloss, the bells and whistles -- this is the purest and closest you can get to the artistry and marvel at the talent that is Kristine W without catching her live. The "Straight Up" side of this collection is a stripped down jazz homage of some of her greatest pop tracks re-imagined; Kristine W then serves it up "With a Twist" taking her audience on a trip-hoppy lounge excursion not to be missed with 15 more remixed versions of these simpler arrangements. If you've been missing her voice, then until Kristine W comes to a city near you this will do -- "Straight Up With a Twist" is a divine evolution to this amazing talent and a true gift to her loyal fans!

As Cyndi Lauper released a blues album, I'm not a fan of major music genre changes. The excitement of the songs are gone.
I will say Kristine's vocals are beautiful.

"Straight Up With A Twist" - A lush and ambitious undertaking that shows the true musical talents of this wonderful artist! Like all good Jazz, this gem has tracks (River Divides, Feel What You Want) that immediately draws you in and with time other tracks evolve and put a stamp of greatness to Kristine's immense musical versatility.
I met Kristine a few years ago and it's so wonderful to see her talents expand in ways I never would have never thought. Way to go dear friend!
Wow!

I have followed and loved Kristen W. since her debut single back in '94. I have alway's loved this woman's voice and she alway's had the best remixes. So when I saw this new set I thought it was a greatest hit's or Remix album. I was pleasantly surprised. She did a gorgous job. THIS truly show's her stength as a singer and how diverse she can be which I think is amamzing.
Sheer brilliance!

A wonderfully conceived, gorgeous collection of some of Kristine's best songs, along with her own interpretations of covers, topped off with jazzy. sexy, moody remixes of all of the songs. I will go out on a limb and say that Ms. W. is the most underrated singer songwriter in history! No to say her fans don't appreciate her-to know her music is to love her music! Her voice is like Barbra Streisand seeped in French Bourbon. A perfectly produced and executed collection from one of the most talented artists I've ever had the pleasure to stumble across.

If you listen to dance music, then you know Kristine W as THE DANCE DIVA! KW has been extremely successful producing club hits for the past 2 decades! However, if KW could make a million dollars performing jazz, then she just WON the jackpot! It's sad but true that the Jazz scene is dying out but after hearing Straight Up with a Twist - Kristine W has definitely revived the most precious musical art form! Her vocals are so smooth and rich. She was born to sing jazz!! KW found a clever way to re-orchestrate some of her dance hits into jazz hits!! I've been waiting for this recording since 2007 and I've finally been awarded the best gift of all!! Please support a true artist like Kristine W - i know she is the hardest working entertainer/vocalist that we have in the business today! Thank you so much Kristine W...you are my hero!
Love, Love Love!

I have to say when an branded artist forays into a different genre it rarely works. The album "works" in more way than one. Kristine has re-grooved some of her Billboard #1's and now made them into NuJazz/Chill standards. Both mixes of "Feel What You Want" are awesome!
