I have several of Jack Jones' albums, and am purchasing this one to add to my collection. He is a singer who is best heard in person. If you ever have the chance, don't miss the opportunity. I am a piano technician, and had the good fortune to tune for a JJ performance in Cincinnati in the mid-90's. It was a fairly intimate affair, and my wife and I spent some time with him after the event.....what an unforgettable night! While I fear he'll always be somewhat under the mainstream radar, his clear, rich, expressive voice helps fill the void left by the loss of such greats as Joe Williams and Mel Torme'. When hearing the name Jack Jones, no doubt a person immediately thinks of his mainstrem hits, such as "Wives and Lovers", "The Race is On", and "The Love Boat Theme", but his gift travels SO much deeper. If you don't listen to any thing else, check out the rendition of "Skylark", on his Tony Bennett tribute album. That is as good a singer gets, in this idiom. And by all means go to whatever means necessary to catch him live.......you will not regret it. I was very fortunate on that night 15 years ago. (And also fortunate that the 7' Baldwin Artist Grand used in that performance sits in my living room!).

Jack Jones remains the finest interpreter of the American Songbook. A unique blend of pleasing sounds and and well sung and well understood lyrics, these songs have been made even better by a great performance. Jack lives the songs and gives them beautiful new lives. It's an impossible dream come true.

Jack Jones has been called the best jazz singer of our time by his contemporaries. He is undoubtedly the best interpreter of lyrics for all time and this album is a fine piece of art - a must have for anyone who is an admirer of the era of music from the Great American Songbook.
