If you guys are trying find something "fresh, new & insightful" for your hip-hop taste buds, then buy this album! Along with their self-titled debut album released a while back. Magnetic North revived my love for hip-hop when I had almost given up on it a while back. This album is worth every penny, so what are you guys waiting for?!

Magnetic North and Taiyo Na's album "Home:Word" is carefully written, masterfully composed, and SO much fun to listen to. As a fan of Magnetic North's first album, I really enjoyed witnessing how much they have grown. Whereas their debut album was perfect for young adults trying to find their way in the world, Home:Word's tracks are more sophisticated, reflective, and profound. "We Belong" is by far the best track on the album----I think it could really be the next (first?) anthem for this Asian American generation. The lyrics are biting and insightful, at times painfully true and at others, hilariously so. The instrumentals are awesome. "New Love" will make you cry. On that track, Theresa Vu establishes herself as the strongest MC. Every word in her verse is perfectly picked and placed. The melody is sweet and jazzy, and Heather Park's vocals are really beautiful. Who said the female emcee was extinct?? Nicki Minaj, move over --- Theresa Vu spits rhymes as clever as MInaj's and ten times as heartfelt and meaningful. The first track, I Got My 2.0, is the weakest, so make sure not to judge the whole album based on it. Still, it is fun and really good live---just a little weak when recorded. "Summertime" is really fun! We need a another summertime song to wash out the bad taste left by Katy Perry's "California Girls." Fun, clever, and lighthearted, this is the track! :D This album has true star potential----it could really transcend the modifier of "Asian-American hip hop" and could really gain popularity among music lovers of all backgrounds. Buy the album, see for yourself, and support Magnetic North and Taiyo Na!
