  • ***Wonderful Album!

This is a great Strauss recording; the Philadelphia strings impart their special warmth to the rich sonorities and compliment the wonderful brass playing...especially in the horns. I would say that this is another feather in the American cap for Alpine Symphony recordings (Pittsburgh/Janowski & Cleveland/Ashkenazy) and ranks right up there with the best of the international bands (Vienna/Previn & London/Haitink). Well done!

Dutoit and the Philadelphia Orchestra hit a home run in this great recording of the Alpine Symphony. The production value is great as well as their playing. Crisp, clean, and wonderfully phrased as to be expected by the PO. All sections of this Orchestra are strong and vibrant.
