Ethel plays the music soley writen by Native American Students-to my knowlege the only one of it's kind. The use of the term students was not meant to diminish their accomplishments. They are still very young, ranging in ages from early teens to early twenties, but possess a musical maturity that belies their age. Much of the selections that came from the Chickasaw workshop are top draw minitures. And the Ethel meets them on their own terms, bringing out the best of each with exacting detail. This is not a token musical excursion like the Kronos are prone to do, but an interesting collaberation and exploration of a musical art culture that needs to thrive and to be much better known. Do your part to help and get this. -Bz
