I never believed STP would become the rock band they are today. Like a fine wine they have gotten better with age. Much, much better. Back in the day they were pineonholed as grunge which any true STP fan will tell you if you look and listen closer was a genre they did not belong in because they belong in no genre. You cannot label this band, as grunge, metal, what have you because they have always done their own thing. I believe it was the time, the popular music of that time ( Pearl Jam, Nirvana, AIC, etc) that people believed here was just another cookie cutter band that found a way to hone their sound to "fit in" with what was popular at that time. And they have certainly have had their troubles, particularly Scott Weiland's drug problems that led people to believe that like Nirvana, AIC, and so many other bands STP would fade away and become "that one band that had a few good songs but just became a casualty of their own excesses". STP have defied that stereotype and proved that there is no way to label them except as a hell of a great rock band. In my opinion which has only been made stronger with this release they are the Led Zepppelin of today. This is one hell of a strong release and I love every bit of it! (by the way, make no mistake I love Nirvana, and Alice in Chains, they are two of my favorite bands ever). With this album, like the title of my review says, I believe it to be the Swan Song of their career. Scott has overcome his demons I believe through the power of music and it seems there is no stopping them. This self title is very diverse, powerful, and all out great rock and roll. Again, like most of my reviews it is a long one so I will end it with this. STP is a great band, don't judge them by their other releases as they are all different and this one is flawless. Just click buy it and enjoy. Cheers friends! - Critter

Although not their best in my mind (Tiny Music), STP lends a new sound to today's watered down music scene. Can't wait for their next album.

Wow
I admit I love this more each listen and I bought two years ago. Has it been that long?
It's different than u might expect but not like Shangra La... This album rocks hard as any. The beautiful stuff is here but mainly this album is uptempo rock
Ironically my favorite track-and I'm glad I bought Deluxe Version-is "Samba Nova". Love his lyrics. Soft song. Gorgeous.
First 5 songs rock and then 6 is Cinnamon. What can u say. Every guy has had a "Cinnamon". ;). It's uptempo too.
I would recommend this to every fan of eclectic rock n roll. It rocks but as always since Core STP rocks it out In a more dynamic way
I honestly say "I LOVE this record."

I love this album. Don't expect to hear the older songs that we all love, but expect to hear a great band doing their own thing and sounding great doing it! Favorite songs: Between the Lines, Huckleberry Crumble, Dare if you Dare, Hazy Daze, Bagman, Peacoat, but they are all at least decent.
