To Be Home

Serene when I listen to this...puts me right in a space where I can Connect. David's voice is like a peaceful lullaby, and Mira's like a beautiful melodic breeze. Like Rain, soothing and calming, urging our growth. Feels great!

David Newman's new album, To Be Home, is a perfect mix of heartfelt english and spirited mantra. It creates a new kirtan genre as it blends together wonderful lyrics, sacred chants and creative music in an upbeat Soul-filled style. I fully enjoyed Mira's musical presence in prayers, solo responses as well as together with David. Everything about this CD is perfect. Great for someone new to kirtan as well as seasoned chanters. I find it hard to listen to anything else.

David Newman and Mira continue to create amazing music, and somehow continue to take their art to higher and higher levels. If you are a David Newman fan, you'll love this one. And if you haven't experienced David Newman before, give this album a listen. You won't be able to keep from falling in love with it; this album is love. It's also important to know what wonderful people these artists are. One of their regular touring stops is the Lotus Pond Yoga Studio in Tampa, Florida. It doesn't take much time around David and Mira to know that the love you hear in their music also exudes from them in person. Wonderful music of love. Wonderful people of love. We need more of that in the world.

I have listened and chanted with David and Mira for years: their kritans bring an ecstatic union that peels the body out of the mundane into the ethers. This album has a refinement, a determination and a longing to transmit that union: spiritual, artistic, heartwarming, and beautiful, to Be Home is a Must have.

This album works on so many levels. It's folksy, spiritual and deep. I've been listening to it almost daily since I got it. Singing kirtan with your beautiful voices. It will be the soundtrack for this period in my life. Thanks Durga Das and Mira, for your uplifting CD promoting peace, love and compassion.

I love this CD; it's my new favorite! I was lucky enough to buy it at one of David & Mira's concert & I really haven't listened to anything else. "To be Home" is my favorite & brings tears to my eyes when I think of my own beloved, who is out there waiting for me too. So, when I hear that song & think of Rumi's quote that my own beloved has been in me along, it makes me so happy I could burst with joy.

SUPERB-FANTASTIC-TRANSFORMATIONAL!!! Each time David Newman (Durga Das) and Mira come out with a new cd, I have very high expectations and I have not been disappointed with To Be Home. As a huge fan, I love it and cannot stop playing it. More importantly, it appeals to people who do not typically listen to kirtan or sanskrit chants. I have given four copies of this as gifts and one of my friends said "Anybody who likes good music will like this" and another said "I think David is the George Harrison of kirtan-and that's saying something!" . I played it in my yoga class last week and at least half the class have since gotten copies!

I have been a long time fan of David and Mira-have loved all their albums, but this album, in particular, has taken their work to a whole new level. It feels literally as though you take a journey and wind up by the end of the album seated right into your heart and soul. I have been playing the album in all my yoga classes and student's are visibly moved by the music on the this album. I am typically drawn to several songs on one album, but i have to say each song truly resonates fro me. The lyrics, creative melodies and production are amazing. I still can't get thru the song "To Be Home" with being drawn to tears. Thank you David and Mira for this gift.

What I love about this album is that it mirrors love and peace on every level of the listening experience: each sound is a positive vibration; each word is a blessing; each song a prayer; and the album in its wholeness a dedication. Jai Ma! Jai Ma! Jai Ma!

My favorite album by David Newman yet, and that's saying something. Each song is hauntingly beautiful. Perfect for working, driving, relaxing. Every yoga music, world music, beautiful music, kirtan fan needs this one in the collection!
