We have many great singer songwriters in the USA. At the Top is Jackson...I'd say a few as great but none greater...the way he's taken his work an reworked it into his acoustic touring is brilliant...this album has a few known gems....looking forward to exploring it further with the experience of how Jackson Browne evokes in me a visceral reaction that I experience with few other musicians in this way...

Comparing any artists current work to that of their high watermark is missing the point. Jackson Browne is not trying to reinvent "The Pretender", this is Jackson Browne as he exists now. If you value the structure of a song over pyrotechnics and lyrics that please on multiple levels, you'll find this is a solid and enjoyable effort. Highlights for me are "Naked Ride Home", "Never Stop" and "My Stunning Mystery Companion".
