Always did like album leaf...

But Perro is a POSTAL SERVICE song. This Place is a Prison @ 44 seconds on. How did no one hear that? I have bands I found to replace Album Leafs niche. But they're still good.
The vocals aren't bad

I love the album leaf and as a musician I can tell that it was a daring move to add vocals to their tracks. Well I feel as though I'm the only one who actually likes the vocals. They're not your #1 autotune hit or the voice that wins American Idol but I feel as though it blends well with the quiet atmospheric music that is present. The Album Leaf deserves some credit. You try to put yourself out there in front of thousands of people to judge. It's not easy.
Inspirational.

Wow. this is a story sung by layers of instruments together in great harmony. Its moving. It's inspiring. It's fantastically relaxing. The rare vocal occasions are too often dismissed… the singing isn't fabulous but the vocals are worked in as just another instrument and they don't derail the tunes.
Love TAL but hate the singing.

I saw TAL last night for the first time and I must say that I liked them a lot. They have always been one of my favorite instrumental groups since I first heard "In a Safe Place" but I will also say that I am somewhat disappointed in the new album. I love the instrumental songs but I don't like the songs where Jimmy sings at all. It has nothing to do with his voice, it just is that I don't like the singing. Jimmy please just put out more instrumental albums. I will only download the instrumental songs from now on. Thanks for making great music!
Honest review from a huge fan.

Perro - Good. opening song, soft like most opening tracks. Talking is a little distracting but tolerable.
Blank Pages - Great. Probably the best song on the album in my eyes. Great melody. Classic TAL sound.
There Is a Wind - OK. The vocals just aren't TAL. Otherwise its catchy, but not my taste.
Within Dreams - Good. Defintely a good song. Prob my #2. Beat is soothing in every way..
Falling from the Sun - Good. Another vocal track. This is defintely the best vocal track on the album imho.
Stand Still - Good. Nice track all around. Sounds like TAL from years past.
Summer Fog - Great. Excellent slow track. Def easy to fall asleep to.
Until the last - Good. Definitely gets lowder and more compelling towards the end to really capture you.
We Are - OK. Mundane vocals leave me disinterested from the start, but certainly listenable.
Almost There - OK. Another vocal song. Probably my least favorite of all the vocal tracks.
Tied Knots - Good. Slow song to wrap up the album. Not unlike TAL to do this. It's defintely a good listen
Overall I give it 4 stars. I had hoped for more from TAL, but I know they still have years of great music ahead of them. I think they will get the message that they are not a vocal group and take us back to the classics in the future. I have seen them many times, defintely the best shows I have ever been to. Thank you TAL

Highly Recommended if you're a fan of Sigur Ros; Jeremy Enigk's "World Waits";The Applesees Cast; and Years. The track "Until the Last" is like trying to watch a movie of your present day life while a slideshow of stills from your past are being projected over it.
Good...

I love love love Seal Beach and I think I want this CD to be that. It held such an important emotional tone at a certain point in my life. This album definatly sets a tone I just wish he didnt sing as much. Still a really great album though!
no more singing

I concur with the review below. I recently bought an album from this band, and when I heard singing I lost interest. I was under the impression they were an instrumental band, because their instrumentals are beautiful.
Well worth the wait 10 Fold..
