It's hard for me to put in words how phenomenal this album is. I-tunes should have found someone with a real soul understanding to describe this album. Don't forget to add Borderline to your must have Ry Cooder list.

Not sure how any record that includes the brilliant musicianship of Ry Cooder and David Lindley can get such a middling review, but don't be put off. If you like Ry you love this album.

Bop Till You Drop was a revelation to me. Now, 30 odd years later, it is still one of my all time favorite albums. I never tire of listening to it. If you haven't heard it, do yourself a treat and get the album. You're gonna love it! Karl (an old dutchman)

After collecting tens of thousands of digital and analogue songs over nearly four decades, this album is one of my all-time favorites. A must-listen for making the great times in life even greater, and also making the dim times brighter. This should be issued to any aspiring or existing guitar player. Not super-technical, but over-the-top tones and taste.

When reading the "standard" review of this album, I have to wonder what the reviewer was smoking, as the review really seems to miss the mark. I suspect he/she just wasn't a fan of this type of music, and allowed personal tastes to cloud the review. This is a great album by a great session artist who was just beginning to branch out and explore his own eclectic interests. Thirty years later, it's still one of my favorite albums. If you're a Ry Cooder fan, this is one of his "must have" albums.
  • A standout gem when it come out, a standout classic now!!!

I'll never forget the day when my big brother brought this home. We were some album cover reading fools and couldn't wait to hear the first digital recorded record ever. Needless to say, we were stunned by the sound, but even more important, the songs and the performance knocked us for a loop!!! I'm glad it was Ry who was the first. I don't know why the iTunes reviewer has his head up his butt, but this record still stands the tests of time!! So, download the whole thing and tell your friends to do the same, if they want to hear real players perform real music. Dig the tones and the soul!!!!

This is great record - the band lays down the most solid grooves ever, cooders guitar is understated, always in the right place at the right time and unique in his phrasing and sound. Even his somwhat weird vocal works well with these tunes which are all strong. I believe this may have been the first pop/rock recording tracked on a digital machine - it's a little thin sounding by today's standards but such a good record it doesn't really matter all that much.

Bought this as a cassette about 30 years and just downloaded it on iTunes, it's still my favorite Ry Cooder LP, top to bottom, all great tunes.
