  • A musical spectacle

It’s been a whole year since I purchased the album and a couple of other buys later it became clear as who my favorite artist is as of now. Sufjan’s work pleads to be a visual spectacle because of that it leaves listeners like me to imagine and ponder at the beauty of all the sounds and resonating notes made through the album. From the opener to the end there is something that everyone may find intriguing. I just hope more people like me would see this work spread some unheard stories to outsiders that never seen Illinois.

Still love this 11 years later. Magical. Listening to this while driving through a foliage-filled landscape... I can't even describe. Thank you, Sufjan

This was the album that introduced me to Sufjan, and shortly after I ended up buying several other albums. This music evokes a sense of euphoria from me in my early life, and after several years, listening to albums from him such as this still sends shivers down my spine. This man is by far my favorite artist, and someone whose music can sooth your soul while also evoking raw emotions. I respect this man greatly, and I really think this album if not Seven Swans, Carrie and Lowell, or Michigan should be listened to.

Best album of the 2000s. Since then he's hit or miss, most recent is beautifully sad.
