I have been fan of this great band since 1978...their music is definitely a big part of the soundtrack of my life..."The Latest" is simply one of their best LPs...EVER...and certainly my favorite of their post-"Dream Police" records (although their 1997 self-titled runs a close 2nd to this one)...great tunes, inspired performances and a tough, yet elegant mix...the only cut that I skip is "Miss Tomorrow", which, to my ears, was a rather bland choice, especially compared to the excellence of the rest of the tunes...be that as it may, this is a TERRIFIC album...

I must admit that upon my first listen to The Latest, I was not that impressed. However, after repeated listens I feel that this is an awesome collection of tunes. The songs just grow on you after repeated listens. How Robin channels Lennon, McCartney, and Harrison while retaining his own unique voice is truly an awesome mystery. Tom's bass playing ranks him up there with Entwistle and McCartney. Rick's guitar is beguilingly crafty. Bun. E's drumming is the icing on the cake. If they ever find a lost Beatles album, it would not be as good as The Latest.

I have been a lifelong fan of these guys! I even like the “Doctor” album. THIS is by far their best ever. At first listen, it’s pretty obvious that their writing was inspired by their preparations for the Sgt. Peppers events. I understand they primarily recorded and produced this on their own. I sincerely hope that there is more of this left in the tank! “Everybody Knows” could be the best CT song ever! “These Days” “Miss Tomorrow” “Miracle" “Closer” all are impossible not to sing along with again and again! This review is quite late - as I actually bought this album in 2010
Another step forward!

While many bands fade away after a lot of great albums, Trick have done the opposite. After a string of mediocre albums after five fantastic ones in the 70s (self-titled, In Color, Heaven Tonight, At Budokan, and Dream Police), they have come back, with the excellent "Rockford" being followed up by this wonderful gem of an album. Every song is very accessible and quite strong, from the great cover of Slate's "When the Lights Are Out" to the soaring ballad "These Days" (which is essentially a much, much, much better version of The Flame) and the piano-driven closer "Smile." Just a solid album all around.

this is the best lp i have purchased in years. This is back to true CP. Wish they could
have play more on the lastest tour with Aerosmith. They were better than Aero and
seems to like being on stage
One of Cheap Trick's best

This album shows their strength as a great American rock band and under-rated at that. Zander's voice is better than ever and The Latest features vibrant bass and drums to complement Nielsen's crisp guitars. There are some hard rockers like "Sick man of Europe" but my favorites are the more melodic tunes like "Smile", "Everybody knows" "These days" and "Miracle."
They still got it

Cheap Trick have always been one of my favorite bands of the Power Pop genre. Over thirty years after their debut, they still are making great albums. "When The Lights Are Out" is better than the original Slade version. (Not to be bad toward Slade). With songs like Miss Tomorrow, Sick Man of Europe & Everyday You Make Me Crazy, it's unbelieveable how good they still are and they are still great live. Robin Zander's singing better than ever, Rick Nielsen is still a madman and of course the classic rhythm section, Tom Petersson and Bun E. Carlos, This album is right up there with Heaven Tonight & Dream Police.
