I had the privilege of enjoying Donny and his 82-year-young Dad, Don, in a performance at Severinos in Santa Cruz, California on August 20, 2009. This is indeed a 5 Star CD.

This has to be one of the best new jazz albums out there. It is performed well by a wonderful musician. I personally use this album to study with because it is relaxing. Just the right amount of stimulation without being too "in your face." A great buy!

Awesome new jazz album! Skills are displayed with exceeding character and without ego. There's nostalgia, without laziness. This is the first I've heard of Donny McCaslin and I love it. I waited days after buying it to write a review. I've been looking for jazz music that is creative, thoughtful, thought-provoking and intentional. He does it! This is 'songwriter's jazz'.
The inspired and tasteful reoccurring single note on the refrain of the title track "Declaration" says it all. I love it!
