Alex, well said, as a DJ that plays tracks such as these, the critic is missing the intended context for the creation of these tracks. They aren't necessarily for listening to solo, although I love them as independent pieces. They can be seen as pieces to create additional works. Peace!

How could the critics call the artist out on a short attention span? The beats were obviously made for bboying. Why would any song in the true hip hop style ever exceed anything more that 3 minutes?? Do you know of anyone who would hog a cypher for that long? In instrumental hip hop the beat needs to change within short time frames--that's the whole point! When will the critics finally realize it isn't just a musical style...it's a culture.
Instrumental hip-hop albums this good seem a scarce commodity today...
