Only six tracks, but well worth it.

Nathan's taken a new direction with this album, layering the spacey, shoe-gazing soundscapes of 'drowning in a sea of love' over driving beats and bass similar to the sounds of label parent, James Holden. The overall effect is a driving, dance-worthy sound, complete with a wonderful attention to melody that has resulted in some splendidly polished dance tracks. Most noteworthy are 'The Turtle', 'Castle Rising', and 'Fentiger'. 'Basic Mountain' is toned-down compared to the rest, but still good and more similar to tracks from his previous album. 'Narrier' to me lacks the inspiration of the other tracks, as it's composed mainly of a dark, looping melody that's just repeated throughout the track. 'The Curlew' is 1:00 long, and serves as more of an interlude, but left me wondering why on such a short album such a track was included in the first place. Overall, this album is more of an EP for Nathan, but one that's well worth the purchase!
