  • PLEASE no more Red Violin!!

I mean, seriously, the man has written other things! Corigliano's score for 'The Red Violin" has been rehashed into just about every form imaginable: we already have a suite, a chaconne (later expanded into a fullscale concerto!) and now a set of caprices, for goodness' sake. Talk about unimaginative programming. Corigliano is such a fine composer, it's a shame to see his music be repackaged and marginalized like this.
  • Quint delivers as always

I'm still not sold on Corigliano as a composer but Quint makes it worth the while as does Hanslip on the Chaconne. The Quartet's are new to me but the Corigliano Quartet (how origional) plays it well enough. It's on Naxos too so you can't go wrong with the price.
