  • So underrated

Bought this my junior year in college. Always like him before but this album showed him to be an artist and not just a ‘rock star’ or ‘soap star’ (looking at you General Hospital). My Father’s Chair just blew me away. I’ve seen him multiple times and he’s always fantastic and have gone through several copies of this album. Now it’s all on my iPhone. Get this.
  • Literally Awesome!

High energy power songs perfectly executed, rocking your socks off! This album should've spawned several hits for the late 80s. Balanced by some Eastern spirituality. This one would have to get us through most of the 90s...

I still listen to this one frequently. I saw him on this tour and he was at the top of his game. Walk like a Man, Written in Rock, Tao of Love and Dance this World Away are my favorites. He's released a ton of great music over the years, but this album is his best.
  • Not bad.

Rick moves from guitar driven Pop/Rock to synth driven Pop/Rock and the album suffers a litte for it. The catchy riffs are gone. State of the Heart and Celebrate Youth are the best songs and hits. Dance this world away and Written in Rock are both solid songs. Some of the others are worth a listen but there are some fillers.
  • one of my favorites...

yes it is... one of my favorites of the 80's... a lot more serious than Rick's previous cd's... but one of my favorites... a must have for your 80's collection...

I got this on tape from my girlfriend in the late summer of 1985. First year of college.... I love this album. Definitely a commercial LP but it is clearly an album from his soul. I have seen RS 3 times live and would see him again. Still have the tape and still keep in touch with my old girlfriend. Hey LD!!!

Out of all of his music, this was the one album that really felt like it came from the soul. I never tire of hearing this album over the years.

Ok, I admit I liked Rick in the 80s but I tried to hide it cause I was a guy and I perceived him as an artist women liked. Didn't stop me from buying living in Oz and Hard to Hold but I kept them in my car (ahhh cassettes). Tao changed all that. I was working in a record store when it came out (Camelot records - where did you go???) and I was blown away. It had a different sound than anything I had heard before. Even the videos were cool. I loved this CD and still listen to it frequently. Rock of life sealed the deal for me that Springfield was legit. Favorite tunes were the singles but all were good. Bit of strange trivia, An italian horror movie (I think Demons) would use the beginning instrumental piece of "walking on the edge" several times in the film ... always struck me as a bit odd but cool. Buy this!
