Finally Russ' solo albums are on I-Tunes! This is a great "listen-able" record. Several strong compositions, "Salseada and Mestizo" are true classics for the Latin-Jazz genre. Russ is playing very mature and knows how to play "music" at an extremely high level. His drums sound incredible. He is extremely underrated on the Jazz scene. No "go-off" drum science projects here, just great contemporary Jazz. Stand outs also include, Jerry Watts locked-in bass grooves and George Shelby's sax playing. Rique Pantoja plays great keys on several cuts and also penned some really fine pieces here. Great to hear two giants like Russ and Richie Garcia play together as well!
