I was in Los Angles one night and had to get away from the city life , so I drove down to my all time favorit record store in San Bernardino to Groove Time Records . Dave is the Man , so he hooked me up with this and turned me on to Freddie Hubbard , Bobby Hutchinson and Terrence Blanchard . Joe Sample is my all time fav (RIP)

Ashes to Ashes an amazing album! Once I heard this album, there was no doubt in my mind that Joe Sample was the greatest piano player that ever lived. Okay, okay I realize that he might not be the greatest but you and anyone who wants to dispute it will have a hell of a time proving otherwise. But to cut to the chase this is a classic album for any jazz enthusiast and it could even make a few jazz lovers out of those who might not normally listen to that paticular genre of music. I bought the CD in 1991 when I was 17 years old from a Peaches record store across the street from the University of Miami. Now I made that point to say this, you will remember when and where you purchased this album. Well you will probably buy it on iTunes but you know what Im trying to say. Its a classic from the first to the last track.
