...MUSIC HERE. That's my only complaint. After 4 songs, you're just getting warmed up for Mr. Newman...and then it's over!
Randy is one of popular music's great treasures. He can write the most biting, tongue-in-cheek social commentary ("Rednecks," "Political Science," and two included here, "It's Money That I Love," and "A Few Words In Defense of OUr Country"), then turn around and write soul-baring, vulnerable, from the heart songs (like "Losing You" here, or "Feels Like Home" from his most recent CD, or "I Think It's Going To Rain Today," from his very first album).
His studio albums are always top notch, well crafted, beautifully arranged and produced fare. But, there is a certain charm and intimacy to just Randy and his piano doing his own material. I almost prefer it over the studio recordings.
Randy fans know what I'm talking about. For those who don't, get these songs and listen for yourself. Songwriting doesn't get much better than this.
If anything proves only buyers should be allowed to review...

The negatives here do. Randy Newman is a genius. Here's further proof in remarkably good renditions and very fine recordings. People lacking emotional maturity and over-developed thenar muscle groups (from hyper-texting and game-playing to the exclusion of any other activity) should be given a mandatory music appreciation course, starting with Bach and ending with Newman. Put your money where your bad-mouthing is.
