    Sweet's Girlfriend gets all the love, but for my money this is the best Matthew Sweet album out there. Critic and fan references to Brian Wilson are well-earned. If you're a fan of Pet Sounds you really owe it to yourself to check out In Reverse. Not a weak cut in the bunch.

    A great effort by Matthew. First four songs represent one of the best first four songs of the majority of the albums out there. Some rock, some ballads...would swear Brian Wilson had a hand in some of the writing, playing, singing, production, etc. The last song "Thunderstorm" is a 9 minute tour de force with Matthew explorng a few different styles he excels at and blends them seamlessly in one song. Songs in between have varying degrees of almost great to pretty good songs, but there's not a bad one on the entire album.
