Who in tha heck engineered this mutha...an incredible swampy distorto mix.
I believe the Reverend Billy G tried to capture this sound on his last solo LP.....didn't happen.
Quite simply, one of their two best---maybe THE best of their entire career!
.....and let's don't forget the interlock grooves of Dusty & Frank; a sonic mud-bed they created for
Mr. Gibbons to display his "once in a lifetime" magical tone on the six string

I don't know what the I Tunes reviewer was listening to, but this is a fantastic ZZ Top album, full of great crunchy guitar and killer hooks. To me this sounds much more like the real ZZTop, not the glossy synth pop of the eighties. I liked the music they made in the eighties also, but this platter just grooves. The songs on this album are just awesome, as good as anything else in their mighty cannon. Throw this baby on and get ready for some serious swamp rock!.

I got to really like this album. Its not just the individual songs but the complete set of songs which is strong. The songs have differences so its not a bunch of repetitive stuff that all sounds the same. Probably the best album since Eliminator.
Swampy, molasses fueled rocker

I think the only way to get Gibbon's guitar tone on this album is to drag an amp through a mud bog. Nobody comes close in exploiting this low end sound. The distorted sonic breakdown on "Loaded" is crazy good. I wonder how many people returned their CDs thinking it was a manufacturing mistake?
Second favorite ZZ Top Record

This album is killer!! The guitar riffs, tones, and playing are amazing. The Reverend Billy G. really spreads the hot sauce on this cracker. Rhythmeen and She's Just Killing Me are my two favorite songs on the album and are really worth the price of admission. This album is my second favorite ZZ Top alum only behind Deguello. They are two very different records, as Deguello is characterized more by clean guitar work. This album, by contrast, is heavily fuzzed and will rip a listeners face off. Get this record, but have a tall beer close by to wash the heat out of your mouth!

This cd is one of ZZ Top's best records in my opinion. I lean more towards heavy rock and metal so this is more of a hard rocking zz top. The guitar tone will blow you off your feet. Billy out did himself on this tone. No one can compare tonaly to this cd. Have a listen for yourself!
