This album is a one off to me. Iommi on this is mystical. Mob Rules didn't even capture it again.
  • A classic!

I was always an old school Ozzy Black Sabbath fan. I still am. This album came out when I was in high school. I rejected it at first calling it “Black Rainbow.” It did grow on me somewhat. Recently, I’ve rediscovered it and I’m blown away by it. Everything that makes music is all here in top form. The music is pure Black Sabbath with a vengeance and Dio’s vocals add a new and different element that contribute to and in no way diminish Sabbath.

sabbath with ozzy were getting a bit lazy (nothing against their legend ness )but step in Ronnie James Dio that lit a fire in Tony Iommi's guitar. Easily in my top 10 metal albums of all time- just the album cover is worth 4.99

I remember this one from my senior year,Ozzy had been replaced and Ronnie James Dio stepped in and this album was magical.Geezer Butler's bass was off the charts, Bill Ward killed the drumming and Tony Iommi not only shredded he also played very melodically, this is one of the greatest Heavy Metal albums of all time in my opinion.Peace Hector V. Neon Knights kicks it off and it just never stops. This album is one of my absolute favorites, one I love to crank the music up, roll down the windows and just drive really, really fast. A classic.

I think this is when Sabbath tried sounding like the metal bands THEY influenced. It's nothing like Ozzy era Sabbath. Gone are Geezer's snaking basslines riding under Iommi's monolithic crushing riffs. Geezer just pounds away on root notes and follows Iommi's lead never really taking off on his own. Iommi's style is vastly different. The big crushing riffs are gone sounding like more of a modern, faster guitar approach. I love Ozzy era Sabbath and own all of those recordings. If I didn't this was a Sabbath album and you played it for me, I wouldn't think it was Sabbath at all. Just some Dio metal band.
