The symphonies are incomplete and you can hear coughing in many parts. Not even worth the low price, although the music quality itself isn’t bad.

Yes like the other reviews states the quality is not exactly great, but it is definetly no where near unlistenbable. 6 full symphonies from one of the best composers of all time for not even 10 dollars though is amazing. Don't hesitate to get this if you're looking to see what Shostakovich is all about, if you've heard a lot of Shostakovich before and are looking for prime recordings go check out the London Symphony.

Live or otherwise the late Yevgeni Mravisnky was a life long supporter and interpreter of Shostakovich. These performances are legendary and are now finally available. Whether as an introduction to these timeless works or as an addition to any collection Denon has done a great service making these available in such excellent recordings....

Only 8 bucks for six symphonies? The other albums are sold at 10 bucks, but only for two symphonies...that sounds super cheap isnt it? The music quality isnt that bad, but the brilliance of the symphonies are tormented but persistently chronic coughs that are audible throughout the symphonies..Sometimes they are as worse as overriding the sounds produce by the orchestra itself... I wonder it is maybe too cold in Leningrad and all of the audience are having by common cold i suppose.. If u r looking for cheap shostakovich's masterpieces and u dun really mind those irriatating coughs, buying this can be as an option... Otherwise, dun get this if u are looking for quality (without those irritating deep coughs)...
