I also was on the field for this night with the Who. I didn't arrived until the middle of the show and knew I missed something great. All these years later I was always disappointed I arrived so late. Thanks for showing me what I missed. I also remember they were not well received at the end of their set, I couldn't understand why, I thought they were great.

As this concert was played a few years before I was even born, I'll never get the chance to see the Clash live. So all I have is this live album, and it's one of the Clash albums I have on constant replay. A good band shouldn't just sound good on a recording album, but just as amazing (or even better) live. The Clash are quite wonderous in these live recordings. Every song is so great, almost good enough to beat out the studio tracks. The only low point for me is "Rock the Casbah" which I guess is one of those songs that doesn't really translate well into a live performance. Considering Topper wrote most of the msuic for this song, and he wasn't there to play might have had something to do with it. But still, it's not a total lost cause. Some of my favorite high points are the "Maginificent 7" to "Armagideon Time" and back medley, "Guns of Brixton," and "Police on my Back." Obviously I'm too young to understand what it was like to see them live, but this album is fantastic, and not worth buying in single tracks. Just buy the whole damn thing.
Clash Rocks!

This is some of the best Clash music they made. On top of that the live sound of Mick Jones' raw guitar really sounds cool. I can listen to these songs over and over again and they still sound great. If your in the mood to buy just one song, I would recommend buying Spanish Bombs, Magnificent 7 or Rock the Casbah.
This sounds incredible!!!!

I saw the Clash on this Who Tour in '82 at the Oakland Coliseum. We had T-Bone Burnett opening the show and I thought he sucked, but the Clash were very well received and I thought they were awesome. This recording shows just how good they were on that tour. Stories of them being booed off the stage in NY are very depressing. Come on NY?!?!?!?! Then again, I was at REM in '97 when Sonic Youth got booed offstage and I'm ashamed to have been there for that.
The Clash at the height of their power.

Man, what a great album. I would have loved to have seen the Clash, but this album seems to have all the energy and grit that my "imaginary" and "dream" Clash shows have had. The sound is quite good... I'm amazed at what they can do these days with older recordings to clean them up. A great album.

I was at this show and I have to admit that there was a greater sense of urgency, a feeling that we were seeing perhaps the most important band of the moment when the Clash took the stage. In some ways I think they topped The Who, and I felt a greater sense of electricity in the air when the lights went out and the Clash took the stage. We knew more or less what to expect from The Who, but the Clash was a different, less predicable beast altogether.
As Historic as the Beatles at Shea ?

I, along with several thousand others, attended this show. I recently found my ticket stub. I remember the rain, the traffic backed up forever to get to the stadium, accidents on the expressway, the booing. As a Clash fan, this show really made me begin to hate the Who, not because of the Who, but the Who fans, who I considered to be closed minded and fat. Listen to this performance by the Clash, they left it all on the stage. We need them now more than ever, but they are gone. Thank goodness the music is left behind. Thank you Clash. 10 stars for you...
