  • Perhaps not as strong as Hallucinations, but a highly satisfying return.

There are very few pop artists who are capable of achieving David Usher's level of dramatic humanism in songs that are still catchy enough to have you dancing in the streets. While Wake Up does not differ greatly from the established Usher formula, it comes to occupy a place of peaceful coexistence with the rest of his canon. In fact much of the album has its origins in earlier work. Songs like "I Am the Weapon" and "When It Hurts" return us to the empassioned ballads of Creature and Silver and "And So We Run" follows in the trends set by Strange Birds. The First two tracks, "The River" and "We Are Wolves Here" show Usher's greatest stride forward as an artist into powerful bass-bumping ballads. All told, "Wake Up and Say Goodbye" is a familiar yet satisfying return from of the freshest and enlivened artists on the scene.

Thank you, David, for your music! As a long time fan I'm still amazed each time I listen to your songs. Your latest is no exception. Great variety, nice melodies coupled with your soft voice, these songs are guaranteed to get stuck in my head. It's a shame you're not bigger in the states.
  • Best Album yet!!!!!
