I picked this cassette🤭up in a $4.99 bin somewhere in Vegas and proceeded to listen to it well, the whole way to Lawton OK. 1975. What a great deal I got. This is a gotta have. A work of art. Yount75

1975, --19 years old with a 1965 Ford Econoline van. inside paneled, shag carpet, captains chairs. two Acoustic Research studio monitors and a Muntz 8 track player. Featured prominently that summer out on highway 9 in South jersey...Little Feat.. Down the road with The Fan..all these years later [wish I knew where that van ended up]

Forget the review. This has very little to do with funk. It is a rocking soul record. Lowell George's voice is perfectly suited for soul. Amazing that this is the same band that did Texas Rose Cafe just a few years earlier. Definitely a must have album. Every track has something to offer.

I dunno how any music critic -- or self-respecting lover of great music in general -- could listen to this album and not consider it one of the finest collections of funk-blues-rock ever recorded. This band was incapable of making anything less than an exceptional sound.
  • One of the Best Albums Ever Recorded

In a decade filled with amazing rock albums this is one of the best. We are hearing Lowell at his peak both vocally and musically....his slide work on this record is just smokin!! But this band has an incredibly deep bench and Payne, Barrere, Gradney, and Hayward all shine on this rock classic. You can only shake your head and smile at Paul Barrere's dilemma on Skin it Back, and doesn't Kenny Gradney provide one of the most memorable bass intros on Spanish Moon? Cold Cold Cold / Tripe Face Boogie is made to rock an arena but the energy still cranks on this studio version. Why one of the best albums ever recorded? Smart, interesting, and unlike anything that had come before it. Influenced the Rolling Stones, Grateful Dead, and preceeded the rock - funk - jazz sound of Steely Dan. Great though the headphones or cranked up in the back yard!!

What a great Band. I saw them live in Boston in 1977. I never experienced anything like it. The whole place was dancing and that says a lot for Boston. Left the show and scalped tickets to go see the late show. Doubly amazing. Lowell George lives on!

The primary review is wrong. There is no low point to this album. Every last millisecond is crammed with country-funk goodness. $6.99? This album is a steal. If you like rock and roll at all you need to own this.
  • Feat's Finest

This was the first Little Feat album I bought in 1975, and still my favorite. Rock and Roll Doctor is Feat's finest, bar none. Then follow it up with Down the Road and Spanish Moon, oh yeah! I just wish they'd done Rock and Roll Doctor as often on other albums as they did Two Trains, or even released it remastered! Even my 14 year old daughter just found RARD on her IPOD and couldn't stop listening to it. Feat forever.

At the time this was a more straight forward feat boogie effort - turn the sterio on and sit back for the ride..Maybe not for everyone however this shows the group at their best. Download "spainish moon" which enjoys the Tower of Power Horn section. The medley of "cold cold cold/Triple face boogie" will hook anyone who likes a great band at their best. This group had a great influence on many including Bonnie Raitt and the Doobie Brothers.

the best little feat compilation imo. i was in Destin FLA over the summer and saw a band called Tishamingo that did a couple feat covers. Check them out too but not on I tunes. Still one of the finest concerts i've seen in my life was little feat in atlanta in 1976. Those dudes threw it down. They were very tight and rocked the house. I have this on vinyl and am finally replacing it so I can listen on my ipod. .......... OHHHHHHHHHHH atlanta ........
