It seems like only yesterday when I met Patrick Cowley at the I-Beam in San Francisco. He was this shy, unassuming guy and I was amazed how he was THE person who created some of the greatest dance music ever. I wish I could have told him how much his music meant to me, but I was so awestruck, I froze. His music will live on, hopefully.
  • A Wonderful Sendoff To a Musical Genius

This was the very last album made by Patrick Cowley. Made after numerous hospital stays, and weak from the devistation of his disease, he none the less pulled it together working late into the morning to complete the work. Confined to a wheelchair, there is a sense of foreboding in the lyrics and darkness in general. He died a short time after recording "Going Home". A musical genius of his time, he set the tone and laid the groundwork for many electronic artists. This may not be his best known work but it's filled with incredible effects, haunting melodies that go beyond a typical "dance" or "disco" album. A crowning achievement to a wonderful career. It makes me wonder what he would have produced had he lived beyond his brief 32 years. Gone too soon, and no doubt he's producing the most amazing heavenly choir with Sylvester, and all of our young heros taken in their prime.
