My favorite Nightmares on Wax album, it's just a classic. "Morse", "Ease Jimi", "Fire In The Middle", and "Capumcap" are a few favorites, but I'd recommend this whole album as a great starting place if you're just getting into soullful instrumental hip hop. The thing is, over the years Carboot Soul has remained a staple of my music collection, and given that it was released over 10 years ago, it still sounds as fresh and inspiring as when I heard "Morse" for the first time years ago. The samples are inventive and create a vibe I haven't been able to find anywhere else really, from swelling strings to almost unintelligible female vocals, to R&B rhythm sections and contemplative guitar/synth parts. Highly recommended to anyone even remotely interested in hip hop, jazz, soul, or electronic music...George Evelyn makes solid tunes that will stay with you for a while. He blends everything together well without sounding overly self-conscious, playing to certain trends, or sounding dated - it's an easy, lasting classic in my book.

I love these guys! DJ EASE has the right idea with this band combining smooth electronic music with soul searching vocals that gives me a spirtual experience everytime I listen. Which is a lot and it never gets old everytime they come up on my shuffle I listen with delight no matter which song it is. Morse is the song that turned me on to them. It still reminds me of when I heard it driving through the sugarcane fields of Kauai on my way to an amazing surf session.
