The person who reviewed this Cd by El writes about El's influence by Marvin Gaye. The vocal arrangements definitiely remind you of Marvin and that is a SERIOUS STATEMENT to make because Marvin was one of the first artists to MASTER vocal dubbing in the studio. What the reviewer didn't mention was that El also plays, arranges, and composes with the musical genius of Leon Ware who actually composed the music for I WANT YOU! El manages to capture the FEEL of his musical mentors and encompass it in his own sound. This CD is a masterpiece that you can listen to over and over again...AND HEAR SOMETHING DIFFERENTLY EACH TIME!
Always great on key singing

I'm giving this album a rating of 4 stars for sentimental reasons. For those of us who grew up in the era of "Switch" and "DeBarge" I think there is something in this album that takes us back to those days. El Debarge's vocals are undeniably DeBarge. That special falsetto that we used to joke about (remember the lyrics: "I'm a man now, a grown man..." in "I Call Your Name") that we now find ourselves singing under our voices - rest in peace Robert L. DeBarge. This album helps us remember those days and remember that El Debarge is not only a great singer but also an accomplished keyboardist.
El Debarge is nothing short of Inredible

El debarge proves his creative genius on this record by his heart, mind, & soul. the whole album is a great listen...but what I love the most are his ballads that showcase his great voice such as "After The Dance," "Another Chance," "You To Turn Me On," and "Love Me Tonight." Also great are "Thick", "In The Storm", and "Special."
Understated but a very good listen

This 1992 album from El DeBarge was his first attempt after leaving Motown. Although it was not a commercial success, El did have some very good cuts on the album. His remake of After the Dance and the You Know What I Like that featured an up and coming artist named Chante' Moore. So there is something good about this Marvin Gaye inspired album.
