Perhaps the definitive recording - absolutely fab in every way. Although, if you haven't listened to John Eliot Gardiner reading, you have truly missed something. Recommend purchasing both - you will be very glad you did.

There can be no question that this recording is a clear first choice for the Brandenburg Concertos. This recording of Bach's Brandernburg Concerots is a pleasure to hear. Furthermore, this recording is glowing with ambience, is full and remarlyably real and transparent. A key recording for anyone who is considering building a great classical music collection..

The names of the pieces are completely mixed up. Compare this to any other recording or the original scores.

I have purchased many sets of the Brandenburgs. This is now my favorite. Here are the reasons: 1. I love the way in which the solo instruments are presented. They don't get lost in the surrounding accompaniment, and when more than one of them is playing (much of the time!) they sound like friends having a conversation with one another. 2. There is a lot of joy here. The rhythms and tempi are generally lively and there is a frequent dance-like spring. 3. The phrases are expressive, with subtle emphasis achieved through nicely controlled dynamics. You can listen to just about any 30-second snippet and hear what I am talking about. 4. These people really know how to play period instruments!
