Nothing but tecnique...but what technique!

This will not go down as Annie's best. The voice once an incredibly flexible instrument is really gone and what is left is her wonderful phrasing and technique. The Mable Mercer syndrome (where long after smoke filled rooms and age had stolen her voice, Mercer continued to give nightly master classes in how to cherish a lyric at New York's Carlisle Hotel)is operating here. As sad as it is to remember how brightly Annie Ross shined in the 60'ds jazz world she moved in, it is still good to have her here with us.
