  • Unique, pleasing, overlooked... Medtner

    5
    By Felix Parochus
One of the things I like about Medtner's works is that, though he doesn't do anything Schoenberg-crazy, he definitely brings some unique and interesting sounds to the romantic repertoire. In other words, while he reminds the listener vaguely of Rachmaninoff (they did learn together after all), he is entirely his own composer. The performances on this disk do not disappoint and the price is great for someone looking for new, interesting music. Get it.
