Quik's masterpiece. The album to this day that I test any new speakers, headphones or home theater systems with. The instruments meld seamlessly together and its so west coast. Laid back, soothing beats with classic melodies. The DJ Quik sound is one of high quality and can instantly be identified. From 2nd II None, AMG, All Eyez On Me and when Snoop needed him most, Quik has always delivered. Stamp of pure quaility when Mr. Blake is on the job. Perfectionist. Well Done Quik.
Changed the game!

Definitely in the top 5 west coast hip hop albums and maybe even in hip hop in general. If you haven't heard this your missing out on a true musical masterpiece.

When this album came out, it was poorly regarded by critics and did not sell well outside of Quik's fan base. I really think this is because when this album came out it was way ahead of it's time. Like Quik says in the opening track, he's gonna "Change the Game". this album and albums like it should not be rated by critics until society's mentality catches up to innovators such as DJ Quik. I think Quik is one if the most talented in the game, and I wish he'd continue to do hip-hop rather than movie scores he says he'd rather do. He will be a loss to the art, especially in light of all the crap, assembly-line hip-hop being churned out these days... We need you Quik!

This is at the time the best Westcoast album to come out, fresh and the DJ amd the artist holds down cali hands down in a war for what coast has the best who done it in hip hop. Quik since this album is still the best westcoast artist, musician, songwriter and beatmaker can you feel that? I'm born and raised in Cali but I do know music and gift period, and Quik is the man.
Balances

Now Balances and Options was a album that showed a Quik that many people haven't ever seen before. Now "Roger's Groove" was a song that I prefered....it was dedicated to the late Roger Troutman who really helped Quik for a few years. Troutman is a true influense to everyone on the West and East coast. He brought the funk and lowrider song you hear in SD and LA today. Without Troutman the music industry would be very different than it is today.
Anyway, the fifth Quik's Groove is a song that has alot of soul and has a good piano play. I prefered it and hope that people take the time to listen and anlayze how the music can deliver a message to the listeners.
