The Way it Is

“The way it is” is a Beautiful song and speaks to the craziness of the times in America today August 2020. No matter what a person says, their actions dictate what type of person they are. Racism will never out last facts and reality. Praying for better days!

One of the few albums bought where there's not one bad song. Definitely got what was paid for! Go Bruce!

Heard him a few weeks ago for the first time in a restaraunt. Mandolin Rain is by far the best track on here
Sublime work

Every song soars with brilliant production and heart, with "Mandolin Rain" and "The Way It Is" being obvious standouts. "Every Little Kiss" and "The Red Plains" are close seconds, but when listened to in its entirety, any song could have been a single on this album. The truth is, there is not a weak point on it, never a bad moment, every track has its own place and is organic to this fantastic '80s release. Bruce Hornsby can tells stories with his piano the way Mark Knopfler could with his guitar. A must have.
A classic album remixed

All of the songs are here from the original, but this is the SECOND pressing of this album. The first run had a smaller limited release number, and that was the better album. The mixes on some of these songs are completely different from the first run. Most notable of these is the song "The river runs low". On the original pressing that song features the complete band including drums. Here it is stripped down to just keyboards, and the song loses its charm in the remix. Still a great record, but if you can find the first run copy (the pic on the cover of this one is on the BACK of the first run) get it.
The Defining Record

Hornsby is no slouch when it comes to piano, and this record is him at his prime! The southern regionalist propelled music is calming, focused and actively demonstrates how music can draw emotions like no other stimuli. Though it has matured over the years, Hornsby's evident attention to the recording process, is another attribute which has allowed him to advance his art further. I believe he was at his best during those years with The Range, but subsequent albums and performances have solidified Hornsby as one of the constants, in what we will remember as the music of the 80's and 90's
Just a great singer, and very classic songs!

Bruce Hornsby has always been a great singer. When he paired up with The Range and created this album it became just a beautiful thing. "Mandolin Rain" is a very deep song that really is from the soul. "Every Little Kiss" is also a very great song. The piano in the beginning of it really makes you appreciate how little piano you hear now-a-days. And lets not forget "The Way It Is". What a great song. This entire album surprised me when it came out. And I am still listening to it today. This is a must have for those who want to get a taste of some really great singing from a wonderful artist. All in all, Bruce Hornsby & The Range have a great album right here, and you are missing out if you don't at least purcase the three songs I suggested!

You just have to buy the retail version of this album. There are a few albums on here where they are missing, for whatever reason (licensing?), the best songs from really good albums.
thats just the way it is, some things will never change. :)
