I want more songs when I listen to these classics. One of the best albums ever. They don't make 'em great like this anymore. Sad!
  • Some of their best work.

This is the best album recorded by Iron Butterfly! It truly is some excellent psychadelia. The voice tracks on all Butterfly recordings tend to be pretty thick and this is no exception. But the compositions are their best.

Iron Butterfly did write Inna-gadda-da-vida which stands alone as one of the all time best songs. Most of the others stunk until members of the group formed Captain Beyond. The 1st Captain Beyond album is up there with top albumns of all time. Crank it up!!!!

Aside from the success of 'In the Garden of Eden', these guys were not one hit wonders. And I wouldn't refer to their 'one hit' as just any old hit. It was an anthem of our times. They were true muscians. Metamorphasis was an extremely well-written album. The melodies, the clarity, the blues mixed with rock...just ahead of their time. As was a band from Texas called Bloodrock. For me, this is one of those, "If-I-were-stranded-on-an-island, albums". Like many good bands from the day, Iron Butterfly didn't bow down to the 'write-me-a-hit' record producers, so ultimately they were proabably a one hit band. But not with musicians and song writers who followed them. Same with the likes of Bloodrock and Savoy Brown. Another great band who did cave into the producer demands was Grand Funk Railroad. They could have gone either way, but chose the hit highway and had success. Iron Butterfly. As good today as in the day.

Iron Butterfly were one hit wonders. No matter how much may like In A-Godda-Da-Vida the rest of thier music is garbage. It's been decades since even the most eccentric college DJ's has played anything other than thier one hit.
  • History in Itself

It was July 20th 1969, We went to see Iron butterfly in Hampton Beach,NH. Before the show at the Sea Ranch Lodge where we stayed, we witnessed history by seeing "Man land on the Moon" on the small black and white TV. Then off to see IB in true color. This was a most memorable event as history was made on both counts. To this day when I hear of Iron Butterfly I think of the moon landing and when I hear of the moon landing, I think of Iron Butterfly, A true Metamorphosis. This band was phenomenal and to this day they still stand strong. I recommend this album to all IB fans and the rest is history.

After In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida, which was lame excrpt for the awesome title track, came the third Iron Butterfly album, Ball. It proved to be a big disappointment musically but sold well. After Ball, they finally got their act together and made Metamorphosis, one of their best (if not THE best) albums. They went from a poppy keyboard heavy sound in Ball to a more bluesy style with far better songwriting.
