  • A great song redone by a great artist!

I have been looking for a version of this song. I heard it years ago, forgot the group, but I finally remembered the title and found this gem! Nick Lowe has really done this song justice. Always loved the melody of this tune, glad I finally found it once again!

Don't expect to hear the Basher who helped make Stiff Records a New Wave force. Nick Lowe no longer intends to "Play That Fast Thing One More Time", instead he sounds like he is ready for a Vegas lounge. Of course, he is up front about the change, titling the album "At My Age". Great album to purchase for my dad, the same dad who told me to turn down the volume when I played Labor of Lust. I could do without the sexism of "I Trained Her to Love Me", a story song in which Mr. Lowe breaks hearts as revenge against what womankind has done to him. As a singer who made an "American Squirm" and had a "Love So Fine", I don't think he has anything to complain about.

"Rome Wasn't Built In A Day" is worth the price of the whole album. This man keeps getting better... like a great vintage wine! alx4asong

I graduated from college a while ago and Nick made those party nights. He has done it even better here. A brilliant career, still in the making.

Rome Wasn't Built In a Day alone is worth the price.
  • Lowe... What a Treat

So glad to have found Nick Lowe… what a treat! I love Lowe’s dry and self-deprecating wit – not to mention the music! I never thought I’d like the vintage country sound. Lowe makes it fresh.

He only gets better with age. At My Age is ~ like Nick ~ charismatic, charming, witty, and brilliant. Thank you for doing what you do and doing so well. As a fan since.... the late 70's...all I can say is "Cheers", I can't wait for the next one.
  • Soulful, Slow... A Bit Boring

Enough already. Nick Lowe is a fine talent but besically he has been recording the same album for his last 3 or 4 releases. ENOUGH of all these slow ballads. Lowe needs to bring more varierty to his work. I appreciate his lyrics and soufulness but couldn't we have a few up-tempo numbers and dare I say a 'rocker' or two? This can't be the same guy who used to play in Rockpile, can it?!
  • My How The Mighty Have Fallen

What a shame. Nick is a shadow of his former self. Booze and bad marriages all add up to someone who should retire. This is a really sad record.
  • Another masterpiece! Brilliant!

If this is what rock & rollers sound like when they grow up, I hope all of my favorite recording artists reach this level of excellence. Following up on 2001's beautiful CD "The Convincer," Nick has crafted another album that is great from start to finish. This is my favorite album of the last few years. Thanks Nick for another keeper! Cheers! - Chuck
