What a terrible idea this was.

Abominable. If you want to listen to Couperin, please do so on the harpsichord---his music in particular is suited only for that instrument. The structure of the pieces, the voicing of the chords, the harmonies, suspensions, silences and ornaments, all of these are so suited to the harpsichord that it is unthinkable to play them on anything else.
That having been said, Thauraud plays well considering, but it's still a freakshow of an album.
These pieces don't even carry over to organ, which actually existed at the time the pieces were written. The Pieces de clavecin are intended solely for the harpsichord. Go download Cuckston's album instead.
