This is my first real exposure to Caetano. The songs are very well crafted, the musicians play brilliantly, and the recording quality is outstanding. Very spare production - not too many frills, and the band has only 3 or 4 guys. But the blend they achieve and the sound that the recording gets is phenomenal.

Absolutely no signs of slowing down. Catch him LIVE if you can!!!! He and his band we're really amazing to see and hear in concert.

Ce is the same as all other Veloso albums: great. He doesn't stray from lyrical melodies but his guitar playing is different from his previous records. O Heroi has become one of my favorite songs. This album lives up to the Veloso name.

I'm embarrassed to say that I'm new to this very famous artist. Not only is this beautifully recorded...it's crisp...it bristles with vitality, and it serves the artist in his delivery of song. (I read that his son was involved in the production.) The brilliance of Caetano Veloso's music is that he makes it sound simple, and he makes every style (and fusion of styles) his own. In no way does the music ever sound like its trying to intrigue the listener...it just does. Instead of constructing songs that move from one style, or genre, to another genre, He layers genres or elements of genres. The result sounds so natural. I mean this as a compliment...this music sounds effortless. While many other wonderful artists 'raise the bar' musically by trying to make the listener aware of its complexity, Caetano sounds as if he couldn't break a sweat here. This is the sound of a Master, in my understanding this is the ability for an artist to take everything he knows about his past experience and technical prowess, and just throw it away. He just gets out of the way of the music and just lets it breathe. The beauty is that 'it' becomes a living entity, moving and evolving, communicating with us, and as all great music it goes deeper- in us.

New material by Caetano is never to be missed. Another great opus!
