What Mr. Check has created with his self-titled debut album is a fantastic representation of what he can create to please the ear drum and the heart at the same time, His subtle use of other instruments and choral effects makes this album sound like something thats on a major label right now. His listenability and musical IQ brings to mind people like John Mayer and Jason Mraz, while maintaining a significantly greater taste infusion of soul (which is needed these days). This album is something you will come back to on a long drive or while having dinner with your significant other. I cannot wait to hear what else comes out of this guy's head, fingers, and heart. Rock on Jon-boy!
Full disclosure: Jon Check lived on my floor my Freshman year in college. I remembered when he played Bluegrass with his brother in dive bars in Pittsburgh...However, my bias does not effect this review one bit.

It's a great album. It reminds me of a funky mix between Jack Johnson, Dave Matthews, and John Mayer, and I love it. My favorites on the album are Prince Charming, I'll Never Know, and Heroes.
One of my favorites

This cd is one of my absolute favorites. Great combination of Dave Matthews, Jack Johnson and other greats. the song "Heroes" is the best on the album in my opinion, though "Balconies and Bended Knees" is quite fun. LOVE IT!!!!
