This is one that really surprised me. It was never even on my radar. Warrant has put out some great music proving they are a talented band. I think Dog eat Dog absolutely exemplifies that, if fact I believe it is their best album to date. Albeit, it is quite a departure from Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich and Cherrie Pie. So at first it takes a bit to grow accustomed to if that is what you expecting. It is similar to direction of Skid Row’s first album vs Slave to the Grind. But it is so worth it. They took some chances and some artistic liberties with the album, but it payed off (which is often not often the case). I just wish it had gotten the recognition it truly deserves.

Such a great album just at the wrong time. Warrant was one of the great bands. Jani was a great writer and generous human. RIP!

Very underrated album but by far the best Warrant album with some heavy riffs and lyrics.

Dog Eat Dog is the Cherry Pie album minus the title track. The sound is heavier, much like Skid Row's second album, but it's still chock full of high quality hair metal rockers ("Machine Gun") and ballads ("Let it Rain"). It's an album to circle back to today, as most passed this up in 1992 in favor of Nirvana and Pearl Jam.

When I first heard the album in its entirety I was distracted by the change in overall sound compared to their earlier works. Now, in 2016, I still have Bitter Pill in my favorites playlist. This is the kind of album you buy when you hear a song you like and are astonished when you realize that several other tracks move you in such a deep, corporeal wave. Great vocals, guitar, well everything!
  • Solid album!

There are some great songs on this album and some guitar solos that are awesome!
  • Top 5 hair band album

This little gem snuck under the radar, didn't it? It was released pretty much the same time as Nirvana's "Nevermind," which not only buried the entire hair metal genre almost single-handedly, but also eclipsed almost every other album released that year. Dog Eat Dog never stood a chance. But it's a real shame because, Warrant peaked on this album. I know it's still Warrant, but if you come so far as to read this review because you're thinking about buying this album, you must have at least a passing interest in the nostalgia of hair bands. If that's so, you really should buy this album. As far as hair band albums go, few are as good as Dog Eat Dog. There really isn't a single filler track in the bunch. Every single tune will stick in your craw at some point. "Hole In My Wall" is probably the highlight of the album, although "Machine Gun" and "Quicksand" would have been hits if this album had been release three years earlier.
  • A strong "post butt-rock" album!

Well actually this is a "butt-rock" album, but its good stuff! Its too bad Warrant and Jani Lane will be mostly remember for Cherrie Pie, because ultimately this is their best album! Sure it doesn't have the "pop-metal" hits but as an overall album it is strong from start to finish. Good lyrics, good 'n' heavy guitar riffs, and just more mature throughout!
