From beginning to end, Till I Love You, chronicles a relationship: the begginings (The Places You Find Love, On My Way To You), the love (Till I loved You, All I Ask) the problems (Why Let It Go, What were thinking of) the endings (Some Good Things Never Last) and then a rekindling (One More Time Around). While parts of it sound dated, overall it is wonderful achievement. One of my favorite albums from the 1980's.
  • An excellent showcase for Barbra's incredible voice

I purchased this CD when it was first released and was blown away by the clarity and fullness of Bab's voice at this time in her life/career. Beautiful orchestrations (sorry to those who think they are overblown--they're not), meaningful lyrics, basically following a romance from beginning to end. Listen to the entire CD, it tells a beautiful story of love's first blooming until the last rose is clipped from a rosebush that has wilted and died. She has stated in the past that she believes a song should have 3 acts. This CD is a set of songs that are the acts of a play. In the end, this collection will end up being considered one of her best in her entire lineup of releases over the years. Listen to the soaring power of her voice one minute only to drop down to barely more than a whisper the next. Superb.

This album is extrodinarily beautiful all the way through. I have most of her albums and this one is the pinnacle of perfection. It's so great that I like to just think about it--just that it exists makes my world a better place. It is my favorite of my whole collection of CD's. It you want an album that opens your heart and keeps it open through the whole CD then this might be one for you too. "On My Way to You" is so moving it always makes me cry. Then there's "Why Let Go?" It just soars!! They all do!
  • The Final Full-Length Album For The 80's

Released in 1988, "Till I Loved You" is Barbra's last full-length album of the 80's, it will be followed up by a "Greatest Hits" package in 1989. This cd combines lush strings with the popular synthesizers of the 80's, making this cd as a whole somewhat dated but no less wonderful. The opening track written by Quincy Jones he would later cover features an all star backing choir including luminaries as Natalie Cole and Jennifer Holliday. "Till I Loved You" is a duet featuring then beau Don Johnson and the song would be a big hit, Barbra secured Don a recording contract with Sony and then he would dump her for ex-wife Melanie Griffith, wounding Barbra deeply. Barbra had Don's backing vocals removed from one of the songs on this album after this cd had gone to the art department, indicating backing vocal credits to Don. "Two People" was an instrumental featured in the closing credits of the movie "Nuts," lyrics were added later creating the version here. "All I Ask Of You" from the play "Phantom Of The Opera" seemes to be the centerpiece of this cd, it's certainly the standout track.
  • THE BEST !

I have purchased 3 copies of this CD because I have given it away to friends who love it. I have always been a fan (although not a fanatic) however, most of her albums grate on my nerves after listening repeatedly -- this one never has done that. I always enjoy it. Track 2 is the so great and Track 7 is my favorite. 9 and 10 are amazing as well. This is a must have CD !!
  • Dull and Dated

Streisand's weakest album release from the 80's is a muddled mess of syrupy love songs heavy on lush production and synths. The album is forgettable save for the opening track and, All I Ask of You from The Phantom of the Opera. The material chosen for this album was undoubtedly influenced by her relationship at the time with Don Johnson, so much so that he even turns up in a most unlikely, and uninspiring duet with Babs.
  • Thank you Quincy!

You may like her, love her or hate her...but if you do not recognize the pure and passionate arranging of Quincy Jones you are in for a treat in this disc. Ms. Stresand can thank a 3 star performance climbing the scales due to the classy Mssr.Jones' "get down" stylings. Places You Find Love and Till I Loved You and All I Ask of You will lift you to a joy of music that cannot be described in words... but you'll feel it. Not quite as stellar, but worth the price of admission, is What Were We Thinking Of. This is not the traditional Streisand, nor the traditional Quincy Jones, but sadly the latter almost goes unrecognized, yet he is the catalyst to the whole disc.

If you love her like I do.. and you have never heard this album.. you must! Beautiful songs.. Two people is haunting. On my way to you is a beautiful song about long term love. When I was teenager my favorite song on this album was You and me for always. Nobody can sing like this lady. I grew up with her and I adore this album.

Well it is not her best or most popular album but the Till I Loved You is the best song of this album.
