I was looking for the Corea pieces on a recording. Finally found them! I have Chick Corea himself playing them on a record but hadn't been able to find a digital version until here. Bates plays the Corea pieces with some embellishment here and there, but mostly straight forward, which is also how he plays the Gershwin. Good recording in that it doesn't do much of anything you don't expect. Sometimes it's hard to find recordings like that.
  • You must invest in track 8!

The only reason I gave this album 4 stars and not 5 is because I didn't download the whole album and don't know about the other songs. However, track 8 "I've Got Rhythm" is a must-download for any person that likes the Gershwin style (that's why you're here right?). It really shows how Gershwin can blend the Classical and Jazz styles together. The pianist, Leon Bates, plays really nicely as well without making the piece too "Jazzy" or Classical. Other pieces that are worth the money is the "Prelude: III" but to a much lesser extent.
