I remember seeing The Kinks live back in 1993. What a great show! I bought this album upon its release & thought it was good then & I think its great now. Definitely one of those albums that grow on you but a true underated masterpiece none the less.

So many bands are clearly over rated. However, the Kinks are clearly under rated. Phobia is an example of an excellent album that received very little exposure from the MSM. It is a shame because Phobia is excellent from start to finish. There is no need to skip tracks.

I just discovered this album. I saw the video for Scattered pon Vevo and was blown away by the song! Bought the album and found song after song that was incredible. I remember hearing Hatred on some AOR stations years ago, but if faded past. Sad, because this entire album is excellent. You won't be disappointed.

This is one of the better Kinks albums. Hatred (A Duet) is my personal favorite on this one, with a Rolling Stones-type chorus that is catchy as hell!
Out with a bang

Rubbish to the AllMusic review about there being only 3 or 4 good songs on this album. "Phobia" — the Kinks' last (so far) studio album — came and went with little fanfare, but it's packed with great Ray (and Dave) Davies moments. "Scattered" stands up to any song from the Kinks' catalog, but it's hardly the only keeper here. "Drift Away" and "Only a Dream" were my initial favorites when this came out, but I continue to discover new gems here 15 years on down the line: "The Informer," "Still Searching," "Phobia," "Over the Edge," "Babies," "Surviving" ... and of course, "Hatred (A Duet)", where the brothers Davies have a whole lot of fun milking their legendary sibling rivalry for laughs (rockin' tune, too). Song for song, it's not quite as great as Ray's recent solo album, "Other People's Lives," but it ain't far behind.
