  • Have to say something...

The featured reviewer has to be part of the "blame America first" crowd. To call "Ragged Old Flag" over-the-top patriotism is treason, in my opinion. This song IS a tribute to the men and women who carried this nation's flag into battle BUT also reflects on times when we weren't feeling very patriotic--and as Cash points out, "(The flag) waved on, though". So this isn't a "rah-rah! Go America! Love it, or leave it!" hyper-patriotic song as the featured reviewer would seem to think. The orchestral arrangement is befitting a song that covers a topic of this magnitude. It is an honest, but reverant telling of this nation's highs and lows gathered under one flag..."and I'm mighty proud of that Ragged Old Flag".
  • Its a little hard to recover from the reviewers idiotic statements....

I'm sure this guy is still trying to recover from the "over the top patriotism " of Francis Scott Key's "Star Spangled Banner", too. This is a classic Cash album. And Ragged Old Flag is a classic Cash song.
