Not simply one of Barbra Streisand's greatest albums, full of many of her greatest hits of the 70's, but one of the greatest pop albums ever. And to the unfortunate soul who thinks that the songs Stay Away and Deep in the Night were on the original LP, I can assure you that they were not. They were songs from her album, "Songbird", and weren't even singles. I still remember the day when I was sixteen years old and bargained with my Mom at KMart to give me enough money to be able to buy the LP. I told her that it could be half hers, and, since she loved Barbra, too, she consented. Thanks, Mom. And thanks, Barbra, for so many splendid memories.

I have always felt a little more attention should have been given this cd when the format was switched from vinyl. The overall mastering of this cd is, well, bad and should have been one of the cd's remastered when vintage lp's were given that treatment in either 1993 or 2000. It certainly is worthy given the content. This cd brings together Barbra's finest singles from most of her 70's releases, she would chart new territory in disco after this 1978 album, nothing from her "Lazy Afternoon" lp, "Funny Lady" or "Butterfly" was included, a new single from the soundtrack "The Eyes Of Laura Mars (Prisoner)" and was one of Barbra's hardest rocking songs, and the re-recording of "You Don't Bring Me Flowers" with Neil Diamond makes this lp cohesive and definitive. Again, I really wish this cd was given the sonic enhancement is so very much deserves.

This album was great, but the change in format from LP to CD seems to have left the last two cuts in the dust. There were twelve cuts on the LP by this title. The last two were "Deep in the Night" and "Stay Away." Seems to me that a lot of CD space was simply wasted, and the fans shortchanged, when they changed format.
