"The Fate of Ophelia" misunderstands the very tragedy it borrows from. In Shakespeare's Hamlet, Ophelia doesn't die from lack of love, she dies from lack of autonomy. Her story is about being silenced, used, and stripped of agency until madness becomes her only language. Taylor's version reframes that as a romantic rescue, where a lover saves her from despair, but that misses the point. Ophelia didn't need to be saved by love; she needed the freedom to save herself.

She just won’t stop. Releasing remix after remix, acoustic version after any version you can possibly imagine to try and boost the sales of this tired song along with its tired million versions the album itself. Give it up already. It’s so transparent and greedy.
