Great effort by Nails

Not a NIN fan per-se, though I like some of their better-known tunes. As a lifelong Tron fan, buying the soundtrack was more out of a sense of duty than desire. Carlos set the benchmark. Punk killed it on Legacy. I think NIN did a fantastic job, and seemed the logical choice given Trent's aptitude for writing scores for film, TV, even video games. I only wish there were more vocals, more pulse-pounding tracks, and a bit of orchestra which was notably absent.
Amazing

A dark, pulsing blast of industrial music — cinematic, and full of raw energy. Cold, precise, and powerful.
I really want to love this, but it’s just OK

As a huge fan of Tron and the entire idea of the grid, and a bigger fan of Daft Punk, I don’t think anyone else should be making Tron soundtracks. They were meant for each other. I’ve always enjoyed NIN music since the 90’s, but I admit I’ve never been crazy for them. Unfortunately I feel this soundtrack really relies on the movie to make it in any way exciting to listen to.

The reviews from those praising Daft Punk is laughable. NIN is a far superior compared to Daft Punk. Where is Daft Funk now…. Defunct since 2021. Where is NIN now…. still selling out arena’s. Trent alone is much more talented than Daft Punk combined. Just stop with the Daft Punk non-sense. I had never even heard of Daft Punk until “Get Lucky” came out, yet people praise them like they are some kind of legit group. “Pretty Hate Machine” and “The Downward Spiral” are WAY better than anything Daft Punk has ever done. The musical score for Tron Ares is fine, but I do wish there were more than 4 actual songs with lyrics on the soundtrack. It’s just leaving us wanting a full length NIN record.
NIN does the impossible

Despite all my anxiety and trepidation, NIN has, in my opinion, righteously advanced the amazing TRON saga. Wendy Carlos introduced us to the collusion of worlds, digital and material, with melody, vocals and synthesized sound scapes. Daft Punk added strings with gorgeous expansive story-telling beats and ballads in Legacy. Joseph Trapenese captured and forwarded the soul of Tron for animation. Now Nine Inch Nails intensifies the experience bringing the driving pulse of ones-and-zeros into our world. Zen-like stillness also endures, as in Still Remains, but it is less ethereal violin and more earthy piano and organ, which serenade us throughout. For me, the new score is a fitting accompaniment for Ares’ crossover into the inviting and threatening city skyline. The thrill is a bargain.
Was skeptical - but now I love it!

Big Tron and Daft Funk fan. Didn’t think NIN could pull it off, but they certainly paid homage to Daft Punk sounds with their own twist. I’m loving this album more and more by the day, and I didn’t expect that before I saw the movie.
